Cross Country Wins Conference Preview

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- The Meredith College cross country team competed in the USA South Conference Preview at the N.C. Wesleyan Cross Country Classic on the campus of North Carolina Wesleyan College, Rocky Mount, N.C. The cross country Angels toed the line with nine other teams and came out on top to win the overall women's team title.

Julie Tonon continued her stellar freshman campaign finishing the 6,000 meter course in 25:47.5 for a fourth place finish in the event and a bump to 16th on the Meredith all-time list.

Rounding out the top-10 for the Angels, Emma Travis finished eighth overall in a time of 27:19.9. Teammates Rachel Hill (14th) and Francie Overman (18th) both achieved top-20 finishes running 27:57.9 and 29:05.8, respectively.

The Avenging Angels will be in action on Friday, Oct. 11th competing in the Royals Challenge presented by Queens University at McAlpine Creek Park, Charlotte, N.C.
